Gilbert Strang was an undergraduate at MIT and a Rhodes Scholar at Balliol College, Oxford. He earned his Ph.D. from UCLA and has since been a professor at MIT. Strang has received numerous accolades, including the Sloan Fellowship, the Fairchild Scholarship, and being elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He currently holds the position of Professor of Mathematics at MIT and is an Honorary Fellow at Balliol College. Strang is also a member of the National Academies.
