Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. As she rattles down the track, she flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes and stops at a signal, giving her a daily glimpse of the same couple breakfasting on their deck. Rachel has even started to feel like she knows them and calls them “Jess and Jason.” To her, their life seems perfect, not unlike the life she recently lost.
One day, Rachel witnesses something shocking. Although it's only a momentary glimpse before the train continues on its journey, the incident changes everything. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel shares what she knows with the police and becomes entwined in the lives of those involved. However, she soon realizes that her actions have consequences and wonders if she has done more harm than good.
The Girl on the Train is a compulsively readable, emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller. It is also an electrifying debut that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
