Introducing the works of Georges Simenon, the writer's writer and master's master, for the first time in a separate edition.
With over 500 million copies sold globally, Simenon's works have been translated into 50 languages and marketed in 50 countries or regions. They have also received recommendations from five Nobel laureates.
Simenon is the most translated French author of the 20th century, with Italy having introduced more of his works than any other author after Shakespeare; and he is the third most frequently introduced author in England and the United States.
Every year, Italy prints an additional 100,000 copies of Simenon's works, and the French "Seven Star Library" sells 90,000 copies annually.
More than 500 hours of television dramas and over 90 films have been adapted from Simenon's works.
In Simenon's many warning words, he reminds us not to insult others. Although he did not express this idea directly, it has been evident in all of his works.
In "The Memory of Anais," readers will meet a suppressed character who lacks male strength and ability, knows he is incompetent in all aspects, is scorned in social interactions, and is deceived and used at work. The only way he can survive is by confessing to a mental health specialist after killing someone.
In "Maigret's Concerns," after two murder cases occurred, all clues pointed to a young doctor who had an interest in psychiatry and grew up in a noble home in a new era. However, Maigret uses his keen professional instinct to prove the young doctor's innocence and to find out who could not tolerate the victim's contempt, identifying the culprit.
Only the truly evil will deliberately humiliate others. Others subconsciously ignore the consequences. In "The Black Ball," members of the rural club refuse to accept the protagonist, but they are not doing so to belittle him. Simenon experienced this during his ten years in America.
