Written by a journalist of The Wall Street Journal, John Carreyrou covered the biggest fraud in Silicon Valley of the decades by interviewing ex-Theranos employees. Together with the book, it is recommended to watch the documentary "Bad Blood" as well. The doc makes a good complement to the book - a book full of salacious startup endeavor in terms of objectivity.
In the middle of the reading, I realize that how Elizabeth Holmes resembles Elon Musk, the difference being that Elon Musk succeeded but Elizabeth Holmes failed. Actually, Elizabeth has all the traits of a successful entrepreneur, even her lies. She is certainly not the only one who has lied about their products. By the way, just read an interesting description in GQ - "The companys CEO, Elizabeth Holmes, was a classic narcissist - an intelligent and ambitious entrepreneur who surrounded herself with mediocre yes-men." Hmmmm.
How this overpromising everything and abusing employees culture becomes so prevailing in startup companies... that looks like another side-effect of modernity & capitalism...
