The second book of the "Beijing Sketch Series" has finally been published. The first book was "Beijing Sketch 1: People and Cars" published in 2016. This book focuses more on the parts of the city that have nothing to do with people, hence the name "Beijing Sketch: Landscapes and Scenery".

This picture book is mainly composed of five parts: "Mountain Tour", "Water Play", "Wind Bathing", "Scenery Appreciation", and "Museum". Among them, the first part, "Mountain Tour", includes five sections: "Layered Mountains", "Gifts from the Earth", "Karst Landforms", "Beijing Summit", and "Hiking". The second part, "Water Play", includes seven sections: "Water in Beijing", "Historical River Archaeology", "Yongding River", "Grand Canal" and more. The third part, "Wind Bathing", includes five sections: "Distinct Seasons", "The Strong Winds of Beijing", "Rain and Snow in Beijing", "Eight Colors of Beijing" and "AQI". The fourth part, "Scenery Appreciation", includes six sections: "How Green is Beijing", "Various Gardens", "How Emperors Strolled in Parks", "My Home Garden", "Eight Scenic Spots of Yanjing" and "Beijing Greenway Route Map". The fifth part, "Museum", includes ten sections: "Beijing Flower Festival", "Seasonal Scenery", "Capital of Ancient Trees", and more.

As shown on the "Beijing Tourist Map", this directory is not arranged in a sequential order, but rather scattered deliberately throughout the book. This is because the books creative concept is that each picture tells a unique and interesting story. Therefore, readers do not need to follow a specific order when reading the book. Just like wandering in a real city, exploring topics that interest you is much more fun.

Among these five chapters, the most informative ones for touring Beijing are the fourth chapter "Scenery Appreciation" and the fifth chapter "Museum". Chapter four introduces various parks, royal gardens, private gardens, the "Eight Scenic Spots of Yanjing," and urban greenways. It provides a representative overview of scenic spots. Chapter five introduces Beijings most representative flowers, ancient trees, birds, insects, zoos, pets, microorganisms and more. Detailed legends are listed, which encourage readers to take the book to the streets and explore these interesting plants and animals mentioned in the book.

Before going to bed at night, flipping through the contents of the book, and walking on the streets of Beijing the next day, feeling the mountains, water, wind, scenery, and biology mentioned in the book, makes each day worth looking forward to. Hopefully, carrying these lovely guides, one can travel all over the mountains, rivers, and scenery of Beijing, experiencing a different view of the city.
